A mandoline is the quickest way to coax paper-thin slices-and other fancy cuts-from fruits and vegetables. Ours will sit right on top of a bowl and has a large guard handle to safeguard fingers. Includes four attachments to dispatch every task from creating perfect oven fries to shaving chocolate with ease: a wide julienne, a grater, a narrow julienne, and a 3-way slicer (fine, thin, and thick). Works really well for thinly slicing vegetables really quickly. I haven't tried any of the other features yet. I gave it a 4 rating because the quality is not the best that it could be but it's pretty great for the price.
